Wigan have pulled off another shock victory, beating Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Latics striker Franco Di Santo put the visitors ahead after seven minutes, before Jordi Gomez netted a second less than a minute later.
Thomas Vermaelen pulled one back after 21 minutes, but the Gunners could not find an equalising goal and the three points went to the DW Stadium outfit.
Arsene Wenger felt that although his side were not at their best, a defeat was a harsh result.
“I feel we were a bit unlucky tonight,” the French manager told Sky Sports.
“Wigan played well, but there was a lot of possession on our side, and we got caught a few times on the counter attack.
“I concede we were not at our best, but it was still very harsh to lose the game like that.
“They defended well. In the second half we didn’t create a lot because we were not patient enough to build our game from the back,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Wenger also confirmed that injured midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has not played this season, will miss Euro 2012.
“Jack Wilshere will not play again this season and will not go to the Euros, that is for sure. He is not ready to practice today or next week. He makes progress, but slow progress.
“What is for sure is he will not be ready for the end of the season and not for the Euros.
“He is devastated, and you can understand that,” the coach concluded.
The result means that Tottenham and Newcastle can close the gap on third-placed Arsenal to two points if they win their game in hand, whilst Wigan are up to 16th place and 34 points with the victory.
