Aston Villa have been linked with switches for a number of wingers throughout the transfer window with the likes of Joe Lolley, Said Benrahma and Harry Wilson taking their interest.
They’ve managed to sign Anwar El Ghazi on a permanent deal but also taking their fancy is Leandro Trossard. That’s despite Brighton agreeing a fee for the player, per The Argus.
Reacting to the news of their interest in the Belgian, there were mixed opinions on a possible move from supporters on Twitter.
Some fans made reference to the fact that Villa were pursuing players in the Belgium market, as one claimed that Christian Purslow must really trust his scout out there. The Villans have already signed Wesley from Club Brugge but they also have an interest in his former teammate, Marvelous Nakamba.
A further supporter urged the club to sign him, making reference to the phenomenal statistics he racked up in 2018/19. In 47 matches, he scored 22 goals and claimed 11 assists too.
But there was also concern over a possible deal. One Villa fan claimed it wouldn’t happen unless El Ghazi was made a back-up.
Trossard’s potential transfer to Brighton is worth £18m but that hasn’t stopped Villa from providing late competition.
Here’s the best of the reaction.
