Crystal Palace, once again, are enduring an up and down season but, recently, this rollercoaster has begun to enter a much more negative arc – the Croydon outfit slumped to a tenth defeat of the season as they failed to hold onto their early lead against West Ham, capping off a miserable week in which they were also beaten by bitter rivals, Brighton.
After clawing Palace out from the depths of the Premier League last season, Roy Hodgson is pretty much a hero in the eyes of most but, in fact, his side are now worse off this season than when they were at this point a year ago – they were on zero points, with zero goals, when the 71-year-old took the reins from Frank de Boer in September 2017.
The lack of goals is a glaring issue for the Eagles. Indeed, none of their orthodox striker options have netted in the league this season and thus Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend have been deployed more centrally – this cannot last as both are considerably less effective here.
In light of the embarrassing defeat to the Seagulls, in particular, many surely called for Hodgson’s sacking but can he be blamed? Surely the players must take responsbility for the below-par showings.
The question to the Selhurst Park faithful, therefore, is do you think Hodgson’s time is up? Let us know by voting in the poll below…
