da imperador bet: Lots of Sunderland fans have been discussing the captaincy of George Honeyman, who came under quite a lot of criticism for his performance in the role last season.
Honeyman is somewhat of an enigma at Sunderland. The 24 year-old Black Cats skipper played 44 times in all competitions last season, but never really proved he is the best in any one position.
Indeed, he played four different positions under Jack Ross last term, deployed 28 times as a number ten, six times in central midfield, five times on the right wing and once on the left flank, per Transfermarkt.
Throughout his career, he has played in eight different roles, and yet, we are still none the wiser as to where he is actually best.
That’s the message from one Sunderland fan too, who says the skipper “tries to do too much”, while others are just unconvinced he has the quality to wear the armband.
After heavy criticism at times last season, fans are once again discussing his future as the team’s leader, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
