da blaze casino: According to reports in The Sun, Newcastle United are lining up a shock move for Leicester City captain Wes Morgan this summer.
da betsson: Magpies manager Rafa Benitez is keen to significantly strengthen his squad following their promotion from the Championship, and he is looking to avoid being involved in a relegation battle again in the Premier League next season.
One of the players he is keen to bring to St James’ Park is Morgan, who won the Premier League title with the Foxes just a year ago.
After signing a new three-year deal at the King Power Stadium in July – and having been a regular feature in the backline again this term despite the east Midlands outfit struggling to relive the highs of the 2015/16 campaign – the Spaniard faces a tough task to prise him away.
There is no doubt that the Jamaica international would be a valuable addition to the backline if he joined the Toon Army.
Here are three reasons Newcastle must go all out to sign Wes Morgan this summer…
Experience
Having made more than 100 Premier League appearances over the course of the last three seasons and at 33 years of age, Morgan certainly has the experience to make a difference at the heart of the Newcastle backline.
Having been part of a title-winning team, the Jamaican knows what is required to try and stop the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane, and that know-how could prove to be invaluable in helping the Magpies stay out of trouble next term.
Leadership
While Benitez will hope that Newcastle stay well away from the Premier League’s bottom three next season, they could easily face a run of fixtures where they struggle to get results because of the strength of the English top flight.
When you come under pressure in a situation like that, you need as many leaders in your team as possible and Morgan – who has been a brilliant captain for Leicester – would certainly be one of the players that could galvanise his teammates and keep morale high during the tough times.
Winner
One of the main attributes Benitez will be looking for when he targets players this summer is a will to win, and having lifted the Premier League title against all odds in one of the greatest achievements in the history of the beautiful game, there is no doubt that Morgan is the kind of character he is looking for.
The Spanish boss will want his team to taste victory in as many matches as they can next season and ultimately push for a top half finish, and the Jamaica international has already proven that he is a winner that could help the Magpies do exactly that.
